Our School Council
Children are at the heart of our school community. As a school we value the thoughts, ideas and opinions of all our children and the School Council is one way of ensuring the voice of the children is heard and has an impact on the development of the school.
Our School Council consist of two representatives from each class from Year 1 to Year 6. The Council meets frequently to express views and make suggestions and decisions. After each meeting the Councillors are given time to feed back to their class.
In order to become a School Councillor pupils have to be voted in by their classmates. Prospective candidates have to convince their class that they are the right person for the job. They are elected by their classes in the autumn term and they then have an extremely important job to do:
- They are responsible for the ongoing process of gathering ideas and opinions of the children throughout the school and reporting back to the Council, staff members and Headteacher.
- They bring new ideas forward for how we can improve our school and local environment.
- They often develop fund raising ideas for the school and for other local or national charities.
